Identity Solution

ID PASS is a digital identity solution designed for governments and humanitarian organizations

Our solution

Without a verifiable identity, one-seventh of the global population lacks the rights to access essential services such as Citizenship, Education, Justice, Health Care, Banking, and Insurance.

However, having an identity document can also constitute a threat to the individual’s privacy and safety. What is needed is a form of identification that is trusted, secure, and allows the bearer to choose when to share or withhold personal information.

ID PASS enables governments and humanitarian organizations to issue and verify a private, trusted, and recoverable form of identity to all population subsets, including citizens, residents and refugees.

Our principles

Extensibility

Upgradable to support new features such as school attendance tracking, eWallet,
health card, etc.

Trust

Identity claims are verifiable and tamper-proof thanks to cryptographic functions.

Privacy

Keeps Personal Identifiable Information and biometric data securely stored on-card. Card holders are in control of their identity and how it is used.

Interoperability

Based on open standards and open APIs it integrates with existing systems such as Beneficiary and Identity Management Platforms.

Durability

Designed to evolve over time and follow its owner throughout his/her life.

Inclusivity

Works for all people, whether disabled, illiterate, living in remote villages or in a refugee camp – even without a smartphone or electricity.

How it works

ID PASS focuses on people who do not have a smartphone or internet access and provides them with a verifiable identity by using smart card technology and biometrics. Once enrolled, individuals have the ability to access services using an identity that they can trust, that is verifiable, private, transportable, and under their control.

ID PASS works both offline and online. It is open source and fully extensible. It combines well-proven technologies with the latest innovations in identity open standards.

When the use case requires it, a blockchain can be used to anchor the identity while biometric data and other personally identifiable information are still stored off-chain, on a smart card.

ID PASS enrolment

Biometric and personal data are captured in the field via a desktop or mobile device, with full consent from the individual.

ID PASS issuance

The ID PASS Smart Card is handed to the individual. Their data is signed by the issuing organization and stored on the card. When required, the data can be anchored on a blockchain to ensure it can be verified and trusted by both the user and third parties.

ID PASS ecosystem

The individuals are given absolute control over their data: they choose what information is shared, who it is shared with, and when to withhold it. Organizations can cooperate with one another while the individuals’ privacy is ensured and their consent is part of the process each step of the way.

Use cases

ID PASS utilizes Decentralized IDs (DID) to create a trusted identity that can be used to verify personal data, access aid and services, and record new claims. User consent is central to this process as users are able to track and manage all data attached to their DID, deciding what is shared and what is private. This allows for greater collaboration between global aid organizations like the Red Cross and the UNHCR.

Education

ID PASS can help schools and organizations globally provide access to education to those who need it most. Verifiable Claims make it easier to identify and track the progress of education programs and identify areas in need. Credentials such as diplomas can also be stored giving users ownership over their accomplishments in order to share them later.

Health Care

Having a trustable record of one’s medical history is important. ID PASS gives individuals absolute control over their medical data. Privacy and consent are ensured through the use of Verifiable Claims allowing information to be shared without relying on third parties. Anonymized medical data also provides research and aid organizations with critical data without compromising confidentiality.

Banking

Vulnerable populations often don’t have access to banking and financial services. Organizations that aim to bring banking to these populations can use ID PASS during their KYC process, to verify their clients’ identity before opening a bank account or issuing a loan. The ID PASS smart card can also be used as an eWallet to receive cash-based transfers and pay at select retailers.
